To Howard County Veterans:
—On the right side is a link to a Veterans Service
Record Form. Our goal is to file Veteran Service Records
with the Howard County Historical Society of everyone
who served in the military from Howard County, Nebraska.
These records will then be on display in a large book
along with other Veteran memorabilia at the Historical
Society Museum in St. Paul, Nebraska. The purpose is
to honor, remember and recognize our veterans. —1.
Please complete the enclosed Veterans Service Record
Form with information relative to your military service.
It will be typed for you. Be as accurate
as possible as this will be a permanent record. A good
source for this information is your Honorable Discharge.
Most are on file at the Courthouse and can be obtained
by the veteran or County Service Officer. —2.
Under Military Service Comments, we are putting basic
training received at, schools attended, places, islands,
ships, planes, whatever, time spent where and when while
in the service. —3. Each Veterans
Service Record will be stored in a plastic sleeve. Additional
items may be sent not to exceed 8" x 10" space,
unattached. This will be added by us on a separate sheet
of paper on the backside of your service record. We
suggest any of the following: —a.
A picture in your service uniform preferred, or any
other picture is acceptable including reprints or photo
image transfers, not photocopies. —b.
Photocopy of newspaper clippings of interest. —c.
We are adding a brief biography below your picture,
telling us what you did after military service, what
you are doing now, retired or deceased etc. —A
donation for this historical project would be greatly
appreciated.
